A SUCCESSFUL ADDITION TO the extremely popular "magical girl" anime genre, the Jewelpet television series is based on a joint venture between Sanrio and Sega Toys. Jewelpet has quickly grown into one of Sanrio’s most successful properties in Japan as well as in several other East Asia countries and is currently being exported into other parts of the world.

Mainly targeting girls 3-6, Jewelpet is an animated story about high school girls and their jewelpets from a magical fantasy world, comprising an animated television series but standing strong also as a toy program and a kawaii design property.
Produced by Studio Comet, the Jewelpet anime series has been produced in three series: Jewelpet (52 half-hours), Jewelpet Twinkle (52 half-hours) and the currently ongoing Jewelpet Sunshine (so far 31 half-hours), each focusing on two human characters as well as a the main Jewelpet Ruby.
There are 37 characters in the Jewelpet franchise and each pet is named after famous birthstones, minerals and jewels. Their sparkling jewel eyes are able to cast a special kind of magic called "Jewel Flash". The Sega Toys product line includes passwords which give access to a web site in which children can adopt the character in the virtual world.
Plus Licens represents Sanrio for merchandising, promotional, publishing, TV, DVD and digital rights to Jewelpet in the Nordic countries, Russia and Central and Eastern Europe.
