B1 and B2 are very mischievous and love playing tricks on their friends, the Teddy Bears who live next door. The three Teddies all have distinct personalities: Lulu is French and loves ballet, Amy is always on the move, and Morgan is usually investigating the park for butterflies or creating works of art.
Just down the street is the Rat in the Hat's shop, which has everything anyone could ever want and is visited quite regularly by the Bananas and the Teddies. B1's and B2's friends also include Camembert the Cow, Swish the Fish and two little chickens called Gregory and Peck!
Each program is self-contained and features a fun adventure with the characters. The stories are full of good humour, aimed at the pre-schooler, but with a content that also adults appreciate and enjoy. The sets where the costumed characters perform are brightly coloured and highly stylized, to represent the magical world of the bananas twins B1 and B2. Children everywhere can easily identify with the settings - the kitchen, the bedroom, the backyard, the beach, the park, etc.
The concept of the Bananas in Pyjamas series came from a song of the same name, composed by Carey Blyton (nephew of Enid Blyton). The catchy tune became a huge hit with Australian audiences on the program Play School, and an animated piece was produced to accompany it. T-shirts featuring Bananas in Pyjamas soon outsold other characters by at least 10 to 1. In July 1992, they got their own TV show, and soon proved to have international appeal: not only has the television series been sold to large parts of the world, but there is also a strong range of licensed products in many territories.
Plus Licens represents ABC for merchandising, promotional and publishing rights to Bananas in Pyjamas in the Nordic countries.
