THE FIRST BLYTHE FASHION DOLL line was available on the toy market for one year only, in 1972. But her comeback has been all the more stunning! From the early 2000s, Hasbro has licensed Japanese toy company Takara-Tomy to produce new editions of Blythe dolls, and she has since then become a cult phenomenon among craft communities and collectors as well as with fans of the Japanese Harajuku fashion and lifestyle.

There are three sizes of Blythe dolls: the original 28 cm full-sized dolls (with eyes that change color following the pull of a string on the back of the head), the 11.2 cm "Petit Blythe" from Takara-Tomy and the "Middie Blythe". Hasbro has also launched a separate line of Blythe dolls servings as petsitters in their Littlest Pet Shop toy line.
Following her Japanese TV debut in the winter of 2000 as a model for the Parco department store, Blythe has become a huge hit with nearly 400 "neo" dolls currently on the market. She has also become a spokesmodel for hair dye, department stores, soda pop... not to mention the numerous crossovers between Blythe and crafting communities that customize the dolls' clothes, hair and make-up and/or take photos of Blythe in various settings.
Stylish, smart and sophisticated and with a face far more enigmatic and dreamish than that of the ordinary fashion doll, Blythe has a great appeal to fans of the 1970s fashion as well as of modern Japanese Harajuku trends. Children enjoy her innocent features, large eyes and broad, cartoon-like forehead, while older fashion fans love her wild hair color, hairstyles and bright eye colors.
A large number of Blythe images are now available for use in merchandising and promotions.
Plus Licens represents Hasbro for merchandising, promotional and publishing rights to Blythe in the Nordic countries, Russia and Central and Eastern Europe.
