The first Fast & Furious film was launched in June 2001. The first five movies have taken in over $1.5 billion at box-office worldwide, with titles 4 and 5 being the most successful in the series so far. Fast Five (2011) expanded the series from a car-racing franchise into a huge action franchise with heist film elements. The action, the cars/racing element and Vin Diesel's star qualities had already paved the ground for the success, and re-teaming the cast from all four previous films and adding action star Dwayne Johnson proved to be a winning formula, as Fast Five took in over $600 million in worldwide box-office! Among the top territories worldwide was Russia, where the film experienced a $24.8 million opening - Universal's biggest ever in the territory!
The Fast & Furious franchise has also created seven top-selling soundtrack albums, sold video/DVDs for nearly $1 billion worldwide, and launched the best-selling racing and movie-based game in the history of mobile gaming! The films continually draw an ethnically mixed audience and the franchise has also been able to reach younger audiences, with the fifth installment receiving an A+ Cinema Score from viewers under age 18.
The franchise guide comprises character photo likenesses from the entire film series as well as fantasy car art, icons, borders and patterns.
In May 2013, Fast & Furious 6 reunites the ensemble cast of series all-stars. Neal H Moritz (The Fast & the Furious series, The Green Hornet, I Am Legend) and Vin Diesel return to produce and Justin Line will direct the film.
Plus Licens represents Universal for merchandising, promotion and publishing rights to the Fast & Furious film franchise in the Nordic countries, Russia/CIS and Central and Eastern Europe.
