The first Fast & Furious film was launched in June 2001. The first five movies have taken in over $1.5 billion at box-office worldwide, with titles 4 and 5 being the most successful in the series so far. Fast Five (2011) expanded the series from a car-racing franchise into a huge action franchise with heist film elements. The action, the cars/racing element and Vin Diesel's star qualities had already paved the ground for the success, and re-teaming the cast from all four previous films and adding action star Dwayne Johnson proved to be a winning formula, as Fast Five took in over $600 million in worldwide box-office! Among the top territories worldwide was Russia, where the film experienced a $24.8 million opening - Universal's biggest ever in the territory!

The Fast & Furious franchise has also created seven top-selling soundtrack albums, sold video/DVDs for nearly $1 billion worldwide, and launched the best-selling racing and movie-based game in the history of mobile gaming!
