"THE GREATEST FAIRY TALE NEVER TOLD", the feature films Shrek (2001), Shrek 2 (2004) and Shrek the Third (2007) from DreamWorks are comedy adventures about an ogre who is forced to become an unlikely hero. Shrek was the first-ever winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, Shrek 2 the third highest-grossing movie ever as well as the number one animated film of all time, and Shrek 3 was the fourth highest-grossing film worldwide in 2007.

The first Shrek movie, inspired by the children's book by William Steig, earned USD 476 million in box office worldwide, and was the #1 opening in 11 countries during the year. The film was a huge success also in Plus Licens territories; not least in Poland, where it gained an impressive figure of $4.9 millions at box office. Shrek, generally regarded as an extremely innovative movie and combining groundbreaking CG animation with a clever, imaginative script, was awarded with the first-ever Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature in 2001.

The sequel Shrek 2 opened in May 2004 on over 4000 screens in the US and grossed $125.3 millions only in its first five days - the second best Friday-Sunday total of all time and including the highest single-day total ever. The figures were even more impressive considering that the movie opened on a non-holiday week with schools still in session.

In Denmark, more than 115.000 tickets were sold during the premiere weekend - the best opening ever for an animated movie in Denmark! In Sweden, the film drew over 70.000 visitors and more than 4.6 million SEK at the box-office during the opening weekend, and the film was a record-breaker for animated movies also in Finland.

Shrek the Third opened in Russia with a box-office figure of $11.1 million in the opening weekend - not only the biggest Eastern European opening ever for an animated movie, but also the biggest opening ever for a non-Russian movie! Shrek the Third also went straight to the top in several other countries in Plus Licens territories.

In the initial course of adventures, Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) rescued the beautiful Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) with some help from a wisecracking donkey (Eddie Murphy). In the sequel, the fairy tale continued as everyone's favorite ogre faced his greatest challenge of all - the in-laws! Shrek 2 reunited original cast members Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, and also stars John Cleese, Julie Andrews, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett and Jennifer Saunders as voice artists.

In Shrek the Third, the adventures continue as Shrek must embark on a new quest to find the heir to the throne of Neverland, Fiona's long-lost cousin Artie, an underachieving medieval high schooler. The holiday special Shrek the Halls premiered on television for Christmas 2007 and is also released on DVD.

Plus Licens represents DreamWorks Animation for merchandising, publishing and promotional rights to Shrek in the Nordic countries and Eastern Europe.
