Snow White and the Huntsman stars Kristen Stewart in the title role as the only person in the land fairer than the Evil Queen (Oscar winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the one girl threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean) plays the prince long enchanted by Snow White's beauty and power. Judging from initial reactions, audiences as well as critics look forward to an epic action adventure comparable to The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Snow White and the Huntsman is planned for release in Plus Licens territories from May 31 - June 8, 2012.
- What really impressed me when I met Kristen Stewart, says director Rupert Sanders, was this incredible life force that she has. I think this Snow White has more inner strength, more courage, and this is something that will really open her up to an even larger audience. - There are very few people in the world who have such appeal to an audience as Kristen Stewart, adds producer Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland). - Her Twilight movies overseas do 400 million dollars apiece, in the same league as Johnny Depp or Will Smith, and she's topping Vanity Fair's list of the highest earning female actresses in Hollywood.
A traditional folk tale collected by the brothers Grimm in the early 19th century, Snow White has been the subject of numerous live-action and cartoon adaptations. While the traditional storyline and elements are the basis for the upcoming epic adventure, the movie also features massive scenes of battles and rebellion, mixing action and magic with gorgeous and spectacular visuals.
