STAR WARS IS ONE of the most successful franchises in history - a space epic able to spellbind fans for over 30 years. Now, George Lucas initiates a new Star Wars era telling the story of The Clone Wars, in a new animated TV series aimed at introducing new generations of audiences to the Star Wars brand. Although connecting to the inherent Clone Wars storyline of the original trilogies, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is its own adventure targeting children 6-12.

The Clone Wars combines the storytelling of Lucasfilm with a new CGI-animation style from the digital studios of Lucasfilm Animation. The feature film pilot for the Clone Wars television series was released theatrically in August 2008 and then debuted on Cartoon Network US in early October with subsequent airings to follow on TNT in early Spring 2009. The series scored as the most watched series premiere in Cartoon Network's history.
The first production run consists of 22 x 22 minute-episodes and Lucasfilm has hinted the series will be running for several seasons. In Plus Licens territories, there are plans for airing of the series on Cartoon Network as well as on free-TV channels - further details to follow when available! A major DVD release is planned for the Nordic countries in December 2008.
In the signature style of Lucasfilm Animation, The Clone Wars chronicles the adventures of Anakin Skywalker, his new Padawan Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master Yoda and the Galactic Republics clone army as the struggle against the Separatist forces, including General Grievous, Asajj Ventress and Sith Lord Count Dooku, during the divisive, action-packed Clone Wars. Each week, a new story in the galaxy-changing Clone Wars comes to center stage, brought to the screen by supervising director Dave Filoni and executive producer George Lucas.
Plus Licens represents Lucasfilm for merchandising, promotional and publishing rights to Star Wars: The Clone Wars in the Nordic countries and Eastern Europe. |
