"ONE SEES CLEARLY only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes." Translations into more than 220 languages and dialects and sales exceeding 134 million copies since 1943 has made Antoine de Saint-Exupérys Le Petit Prince/The Little Prince one of the greatest literary classics of all time, not only in children's literature. It is estimated that five million copies of the book have been sold in Scandinavia and eight million copies in Eastern Europe. The story and characters have also proceeded into other media and are now also being carefully translated into a top-quality 3D television series, planned for release in early 2011.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's classic original illustrations for The Little Prince are now available for merchandising use, collected and developed into a styleguide comprising several design programs and primarily targeted at pre-school and upmarket products. A merchandising program based on the upcoming television series is planned to be developed later on.
First published in New York in 1943 (in English and French) during de Saint-Exupéry's wartime exile in the US and published in France in 1945, Le Petit Prince/The Little Prince is a truly universal story that for decades has been a part of childhoods throughout the world. In Plus Licens territories, the book also has a long publishing history with introductions in Poland in 1947, Denmark in 1950, Finland in 1951, Sweden in 1952, Hungary in 1957, Russia/the then Soviet Union in 1958, Lithuania and the then Czechoslovakia in 1959, Estonia in 1960, Iceland in 1961, Norway in 1962, Romania in 1965 and Latvia in 1966. A tale of extraordinary imagination and contiguous mystery, The Little Prince has during the years also spawned plays and animated pictures including a 1974 Stanley Donen's musical film. A recent comic book adaptation by Joann Sfar was released in September 2008 and is being published in Denmark and Sweden.
