Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield, started Paws, Inc. in 1981 as a creative studio to handle the writing, drawing and designing of all Garfield products like T-shirts, books, figurines, posters, stuffed toys, calendars, etc. Doing business in 111 countries all over the world, Paws does it all - product design, packaging, television production, animation, website, 3D design, sourcing and more!

Nestled in the Indiana countryside, Paws, Inc. is a state-of-the art studio and business facility. This "country contemporary" complex boasts a three-story, glass-enclosed atrium (so you can stop and smell the African violets), and houses an art department, showroom/conference room, exercise room, cafeteria (Garfield's favorite), animation studio, the "Big Guy's" Office (Jim Davis, not Garfield), and enough computer hardware and software to run the space program. Paws also operates its own solar aquatic system water treatment plant.

Paws' staff has grown from three in 1981 to over fifty today! And the whole crazy crew of creative and business people all do their part to keep the cat purring.

Housed in one wing of the Paws studio are over 15 full-time artists and designers, whose job it is to create initial concepts and provide finished art for all Garfield products in the U.S. and around the world. Using their skills in drawing, inking, painting, sculpting, designing, and paste-up, the art staff places the familiar face of Garfield on posters, plates, apparel, plush toys, pencils, and hundreds of other Garfield products.

Paws, Inc. offers a nearly full-service production department for promotional, advertising, audio, and video projects. Paws Productions has quite a track record developing and producing commercials, public service announcements, animation, in-house sales and promotional videos, and various other moving image products for Garfield clients.
