Plus Licens is proud to now represent the picture book and design property Little Pink & Brokiga by Stina Wirsén, one of Sweden's most renowned artists and illustrators. The representationship covers merchandising and promotional rights for Europe, Russia/CIS, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia and publishing rights worldwide outside Sweden.
The hugely successful picture book series featuring "Liten Skär & Alla Små Brokiga" (character names usually translated as "A Little Pink One and All the Multi-Coloured Ones") is created by Stina Wirsén in cooperation with her mother Carin Wirsén. In a fun, playful and colorful way, with a language based on rhyme and rhythm, the books treat themes such as the alphabet, numbers and colors, positions, opposites, fear.
The Brokiga characters are expressive and cute without being too cutesy and cherish the right to individuality and expression of emotions. Stina Wirsén's books often feature powerful female characters, although not necessarily tomboys - above all, the Little Pink character is based on the idea that girls can be allowed to dress like princesses and still be strong individuals.
Based on the book series, the design franchise Brokiga has been developed for Sweden by Anna Hörling. The product line consists of apparel and furnishing, bedding and accessories for nurseries and children's rooms.
Stina Wirsén is one of Sweden's most renowned artists and illustrators. She graduated from Konstfack University College of Arts, Craft and Design in 1992 and lives and works in Stockholm. As former head of the illustration department at leading Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter, Wirsén has been a vital part in the revitalization of newspaper illustration and helped earning Dagens Nyheter several prestigious awards in the field of newspress illustration and design. Her own style, simple and minimalistic yet powerful and expressive, has in many ways been formed by her work with the daily press: tempo, effectiveness, clarity and poignancy. In addition to her children's book illustrations, her fashion and portrait art has gained much attention. Among other prizes, Wirsén has been awarded the prestigious Elsa Beskow-plaketten for her children's book illustrations.
Anna Hörling, Stina's sister, also a Konstfack University College of Arts, Craft and Design graduate, is today a successful product designer, with clients such as the Swedish brands Lexington and Watt & Veke. Anna has also worked as an interiors/design reporter and is currently writing a series of sewing books for the publishing house Berghs Förlag. At two occasions Anna was awarded the prestigious Excellent Swedish Design prize.
