  New Lindgren web site

The re-designed official web site for Astrid Lindgren and her characters has now been launched online. Aiming to create a virtual museum about Lindgren's life and works, useful for the general public as well as literary historians and other scholars, the new site collects fact-filled texts and imagery while also maintaining the element of fun, wit and respect for childhood and human values that are key elements in Lindgren's production.

The Astrid Lindgren site, originally launched in 1997, currently has approx. 1000 visitors daily. The new site, produced by Saltkrakan in co-operation with Astrid Lindgren's Nas and the brand developer Grow, is for the time being available in Swedish only but other language versions are in the works.

Tomorrow, March 24, the winner of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2009 will be announced at a ceremony in Vimmerby, Sweden. The award, founded by the Swedish government in 2002, is the world's largest children's and youth literature prize, comprising five million Swedish crowns. The international prize is awarded each year to one or more recipients, regardless of language or nationality.
