FROM THE ORIGINAL SIX to the current thirty teams, the NHL brand covers major markets not only in North America but also in Europe. Its attributes - contemporary, edgy and youthful, fast, fresh and fashionable - are defined and communicated in the NHL Shield logo, the team logos and other well-known trademarks of the National Hockey League. The updated version of the classic mark combines the time-honoured shape of the original shield with new silver colours (paying homage to the Stanley Cup trophy) and upward-reading letters. This represents a new era of NHL advertising and promotional activities.
